For therapy as individual as you are

Welcome to Unmuddled Counselling and Psychotherapy. I thought long and hard about the name of this practice, wanting it to be straight to the point and say ‘what it does on the tin’. In a nutshell ‘unmuddling’ is what therapy does. It is a safe space to sort through your thoughts, untangle complex emotions and to make sense of things that are happening in your life when it all feels a bit jumbled up. Therapy can help when life has got you in a muddle, by unravelling what is going on for you one thread at a time.

I am an experienced counsellor and psychotherapist working in Central Exeter for clients across Devon. I also offer online counselling throughout the UK. I offer individual therapy for young people and adults as well as family therapy.

Everyone deserves a safe space to talk, to be heard and to work out what is going on for them. Despite what you may think there is no such thing as a ‘typical counsellor’ I am down to earth, make you feel at home and will not use fancy jargon. Friends and family can help up to a point, but you may struggle to open up to them or need even better help!

Taking the first step can be the hard and perhaps feel intimidating. Maybe you have thought about having several times but put it off for various reasons. Once you have made that decision I am here to make it as easy as I possibly can. You have the option of an introductory telephone conversation – no strings attached - where you can ask any questions that you may have.

There is no one size fits all approach. I am here to listen to you and do all that I can to make sure you do not feel uncomfortable or pushed.

Testimonial from Client M:
I never thought my problems were important enough to need therapy until I got to my lowest point where I felt like I would never be happy again and decided to seek better help than I had already from those around me. Sarah is so easy to talk to, she makes you feel heard, and your feelings feel valid. She's always quick to reply and I feel she genuinely wants to help and creates a safe space for you to feel comfortable sharing what you feel without judgement.

I have experience working with (but not limited to):-

Abuse

Trauma

Neurodiversity

Anxiety

Mental health disorders

Gender & Sexual Identity

Parent of client F:
We are so thankful to have found Sarah. She is so knowledgeable and has never once spoken about autism through the lens of it being a deficit – always that it is something that brings opportunity and gifts to someone’s life and it’s a matter of identifying what those gifts are and building on them. We can’t think of anyone better to help our son understand himself, build his confidence, and advocate for who he is and what he needs. Thank you!!
